Tricia Smith Honored with Highlands Chamber Volunteer of the Year Award

The Literacy & Learning Center is thrilled to celebrate dedicated After-School volunteer Tricia Smith, who has been named the recipient of the Highlands Chamber of Commerce Volunteer of the Year Award!

Presented annually, this prestigious award honors an individual who exemplifies selfless giving, outstanding leadership, and compassion while making a profound, positive impact on the Highlands Plateau through their time and talent.

Tricia’s extraordinary commitment to local service was jointly recognized across the community, earning dual nominations from Bonnie Potts, Executive Director of TL&LC, and Faviola Olvera, Executive Director of the Community Care Clinic, where Tricia also devotes her time.

At The Center, Tricia is a vital cornerstone of the After-School program, offering patient guidance, encouragement, and academic support to local students every week. Her dedication creates a welcoming space where young learners build confidence, master new skills, and thrive.

Whether mentoring children at TL&LC or serving patients at the Community Care Clinic, Tricia truly embodies the spirit of community partnership and humble leadership.
