Are you searching for entertaining and educational activities for your child this June? TL&LC has the answer! Each Tuesday and Thursday afternoon from 1 - 4 pm (select dates still available), campers will be stimulated and challenged while they have fun with Academic Adventures Camp – free of charge!
This summer camp offers a range of enjoyable activities, including phonics and math skills review to help prevent the “summer slide.” This often occurs when students lose some of their academic gains from the prior school year from not keeping them in regular practice.
Because much of learning happens best when kids are actively engaged, STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) projects will challenge their critical thinking and problem-solving skills as they play with some of their favorite materials. Campers will have the opportunity to participate in hands-on projects such as building structures, making slime, and creating innovative solutions to real-world problems.
Nature walks will provide time for campers to explore the great outdoors while they get some exercise and learn about the natural world. Campers will learn about the specific temperate rain forest plants and animal species they encounter along the way. For the bigger picture, they will also learn about the environmental challenges we face today and the importance of sustainable choices.
The final component will be fun craft projects that will allow campers to get their creative juices flowing and let their imaginations run wild. A variety of materials and supplies will be provided for campers to make unique and personalized take-home items, including friendship bracelets, yarn flowers, and bubble paintings.
Snacks are provided. It is recommended that campers come dressed for play and bring a water bottle, if available, for convenience. Registration is open until filled by the first ten sign-ups. The range of activities are designed to produce a well-rounded experience for campers entering 1st - 3rd grades.
