Empowering Community Success: TL&LC Launches In-Person GED Program

The Literacy & Learning Center is expanding its adult education services by offering in-person High School Equivalency (GED) classes. Designed to support adult learners at any stage of their educational journey, this new initiative provides direct instruction to help participants earn their diploma, gain essential academic skills, and build confidence for workforce advancement.

Recognizing that every student brings unique goals and schedules to the classroom, the program meets individuals where they are. To complement the weekly in-person sessions, TL&LC offers supplemental self-paced online preparatory courses. These flexible digital resources allow students to reinforce key subject areas, practice at their own pace, and prepare outside scheduled meeting times.

To eliminate financial barriers to educational attainment, TL&LC covers all follow-up equivalency test fees at the designated regional testing center. By removing testing costs alongside offering tuition-free instruction, the organization ensures that financial constraints do not stand in the way of career and personal growth for residents.

Classes are held every Monday evening from 5:30 P.M. to 6:30 P.M. at TL&LC's facility, located at 675 South 4th Street (conveniently situated next to Bryson's Food Store). To make attending as accessible and seamless as possible for working adults and families, no advance registration is required. Additionally, participants receive a complimentary dinner at each session, creating a welcoming, supportive start to each week.

Whether a student is returning to complete a high school credential after years away or seeking to improve job prospects through higher education and vocational training, The Center’s adult literacy programs deliver dedicated mentorship and resources to help every learner succeed.
