ESL Classes Return to In-Person: A Vital Step for Community Learning

The Literacy and Learning Center is excited to announce a significant step forward in its community programming: the return of English as a Second Language (ESL) classes to in-person instruction. Following a necessary period of temporary online instruction, this transition underscores the Center’s deep commitment to providing interactive, community-focused education.

The in-person classes officially resumed on Tuesday, October 7, and will now be held weekly on Tuesdays at 6 pm. All sessions take place at The Literacy & Learning Center itself, located at 675 S 4th Street in Highlands, next to Bryson's. The shift back to the physical classroom ensures students can benefit from direct conversation, immediate feedback, and the shared environment essential for confident language acquisition.

The benefits of acquiring English skills are wide-ranging and immediately impactful. ESL classes empower students to gain better employment opportunities, confidently manage daily life, navigate essential services like healthcare, and become more fully engaged members of the community. For parents, improving English literacy is particularly crucial, as it allows them to support their children's education and communicate more effectively with their schools. In a steadfast commitment to removing barriers to education, TL&LC offers these comprehensive ESL classes at no cost. Furthermore, no advance registration is required; participants are encouraged to arrive at the Center ready to learn. TL&LC welcomes all community members interested in improving their English skills to join the class every Tuesday at 6 pm.
